Silverlight 2.0 app_offline.htm
Posted by petermcg on May 12, 2008
Anyone doing frequent builds of a Silverlight 2.0 Beta 1 project in Visual Studio 2008 has no doubt encountered this interesting side effect. Part of the build process appears to involve generating an app_offline.htm file which eventually ends up being added to the Recycle Bin :
Before ending up in the Recycle Bin, presumably the file is first used to shutdown the web site/application hosting the Silverlight application to release or unlock resources needed in the build of the assemblies or generation of the .xap file.
I doubt this will make it into production builds but if you ever need a count of how many times you’ve built your Silverlight 2.0 Beta 1 projects, just check the recycle bin 🙂
